Marian devotions

Marian devotions
This term refers to a variety of expressions of popular piety that honor Mary, the Mother of God. Throughout Christian history, the Virgin Mary has been venerated in many different places: Czestochowa, Fatima, Guadalupe, Knock, Lourdes, and so on. In each of these places, there is an account of a grace-filled encounter of Mary with the local people; such narratives can be interpreted theologically as symbolizing the presence of grace among the poor and marginalized of different times, places, and races.
